One of the three available Kardtects Starter sets is called the Lost Desert. It’s main wall building card is of Sand tone and is often used to build fun pyramids or other Egyptian Temples. Found within The Lost Desert set’s expansion packs are ground building cards of sand, and so for this week’s Friday Fun Fact, we thought sharing the following neat detail about sand was perfect.
Did you know Sands can sing? They can!
Sands that produce sound, either caused by wind passing over or walking on the sand, is called Singing Sands. The noise is like a humming or singing. Some sands might also seem like they are whistling, roaring, or growling. How cool is that?
Although the exact reason for why the sands sing is unknown, it is believed certain conditions must be met for it to happen. These conditions are the sands must be of the right humidity, rounded, and contain silica. So whether in the desert or on the beach, under these right conditions, sands are known to sing. Have you ever heard them?
Often times strolling along the sand dunes and when the wind is blowing, you can hear the singing sands. These are called the Songs of Dunes.
A Kardtect (card architect) could build a Dune by using the Lost Desert sand cards and imagine them singing. A pyramid could be built in front of the Dunes.
For creating the Dunes, cards can be stacked to give the Dunes height, and then other cards can be leaned against those cards giving the sloping appearance of a Dune. Cards placed, and leaned together on their sides can top off the Dunes.
To see how a pyramid is built, go ahead and watch the video. No matter what is built, Kardtects makes it easier and more rewarding. Kardtects are the ultimate building cards!
