The over 30 foot high freestanding card tower was a goal of Kardtects. Not only would it beat a previous Kardtects record card tower of 27.7 feet, but it would beat the record height of the World Guinness playing card tower of 25’9” by quite a bit more.
One of the reasons Kardtects wanted to build the record card tower was to clearly demonstrate the amazing attributes of Kardtects Building Cards. They are the new cards in town, so to speak, and take the classic activity of building a card house to exciting new levels. They make building card houses easier, faster, and more rewarding than ever before for ALL; kids and adults.
No matter how small or tall of a card structure you build, it begins with two cards. Just as if you were building a one level card house, the card tower’s first two cards lean against each other to provide balance for each one to stand. Then you lean another, and another, and so on. It’s a teamwork of cards all the way from the beginning! For any card structure.
The tower can be seen to represent this incredible and extraordinary teamwork necessary to accomplish the successful building of card structures. The skill of ‘The Lean’, as we Kardtects (card architects), have begun to say it with a bit a pizzazz, is not at all difficult to establish. And by acquiring this one simple knack for ‘The Lean’, you are well on your way to build the most remarkable card creations.
The Kardtects card tower can also be seen to represent and stand tall for the great imaginations and creativities back to basic play encourages and fuels.
This inspiring of basic play is important to Kardtects. For myself, the founder of Kardtects, I have witnessed the deep joy finishing a card house gives a child. The sense of accomplishment is seen through their smiles. Card Building gives this. Back to basic play, and building card houses builds strengths and develops skills a child can then build upon, and use through their lives.
Just like cards lean upon each other to build, strengths and skills of children lean upon each other to build too.
Kardtects loves to inspire Play to build not only extraordinary card houses, but children too.
There is a quote, ‘What you build, ends up building you’. It is so true. And all Kardtects Card Towers, small or huge, stand for this building of exceptional worth. They are beacons to inspire the kind of Play which does so.
The 30 foot card tower took around 15 hours to build. Most of that time was spent on building the foundation of the tower. This base needed to be large and strong enough to withstand the weight of the growing card tower on top. It is estimated there were 15,000 building cards used to build the entire tower and these weighed in at around 165 pounds, all told. Most of that weight would be placed below the 15 foot mark though. Almost 85% of it, actually.
As mentioned, it began with two cards, and level upon level, kept building up from these. Using a scissor lift to place the 103rd level marked the success of 30 feet high. One more level was added and the tower was considered done for this building event.
It was wonderful and exciting to build.
But what goes up, must come down. And so it was also exciting to ask the assistance for demolition from a Crunch Fitness Member. Kardtects built in front of this exercise center and so it seemed natural to ask if any ‘muscle men’ would be willing to knock down the tower.
There was one and in no way was the Kardtects Tower going to withstand the ‘Muscle’ of him running through. Watch the Video!
