Kardtects building cards are made out of an exclusive heavy pound paper, which offers the ideal thickness for the ultimate building card.
Multiple tests were conducted to find not only the ‘ideal’ weight of paper to use for producing Kardtects building cards, but also to find the best texture and size. Kardtects thoroughly tested and researched ‘paper’ in order to give the best building card for Kardtects (card architects) to use!
During this process of development, a lot of interesting facts were learned about paper. Below are the top ten fun facts on paper for you to enjoy!
1)The first papermaking process is accredited to China, in the 2nd century BC.
2)Paper was initially produced using the resources of recycled fibers of rags made from hemp, linen, and cotton.
3)In 1774, the German inventor Justus Claproth, introduced the method to remove ink from recycled paper.
4)The word Paper derives from the Latin word ‘Papyrus’. Papyrus is a plant which was used in ancient times to make ‘paper’.
5)As mentioned, Kardtects uses a ‘certain weight’ of paper for their building cards. This ‘weight’ is actually the weight of a ream, which a ream is 500 sheets of paper. A standard size of printing paper (8.5 x11), is generally 20 lbs. Kardtects paper weighs over 100 lbs!
6)40% of total waste in the USA is from Paper. However, recycling techniques have found a way to make use of much of this.
7)Americans are said to use over 16 billion paper cups a year!
8)Paper bag weights were first measured by the pounds of sugar they could hold. Paper bags can be made heavy duty (to hold 75 lbs) or light (to only hold a few pounds).
9)Paper can be folded multiple times. However, there is a limit in the amount of times it can be folded because each time the paper becomes smaller and thicker. The current record to ‘fold a piece of paper’ is 13. This was shown in 2012. Can you fold it 14 times? Or go ahead and test how many times you can fold a piece of paper, and let us know!
10) The largest sheet of paper was made in August 2015 by College Students in Ypacarai, Paraguay. It measures 49 feet, .5 inch by 32 feet, 10 inch.
Kardtects building cards only measure 3.5 inch by 8 inch! Which are the perfect size for building!
