One of the oldest materials or method used for roofing is Thatching. Dry vegetation (like straw, reed, palm pronds, rushes, or heather) are layered and packed tightly together to place on top of supporting beams and inner roof coverings to shed water away from the home’s top.
Although Thatched roofs are thought to be highly flammable, the density of vegetation of a Thatch roof actually causes any fire which might ignite to burn very slowly. Often times, the walls and other materials of the home are more flammable and burn more quickly.
In the Forbidden Jungle set of Kardtects Building Cards, Thatch building cards are found. These, along with the many other collectible building cards of the pack, help make an impressive looking card structure.
The Thatch roof cards come in both Vertical and Horizontal styles. One of the collectible cards found in the Expansion Pack even includes a very creepy spider on top of a thatch roof. For not only did the roofs of homes protect against the weather, they protected against unwelcoming creatures wanting to explore the insides of a jungle, or any other style of home!
Although the Thatch building cards are found in the Forbidden Jungle set featuring the Bamboo Wall cards, they can be used for roofs in the other sets too. They look awesome on a cottage made from the Grisroc starter set!
