Kardtects had an awesome time teaching kids how to build card houses at the Bloomsburg MakerFaire. Just like there is a method to build with Legos, there is a method to build with Kardtects. Legos snap together in a specific way. They don’t just get piled on top of each other. Well Kardtects LEAN together in a specific way.
At MakerFaire, Kardtects taught this easy method. Kids learned how to build with Kardtects Building Cards by beginning with the Kardtects Square.
This simple 8 card structure is the foundation for building incredible card houses with Kardtects.
Kids quickly learned how to build the Kardtects Square and realized just how easy it is to build a card house by following it.
Watch the video below to see the steps in action:
As the video demonstrates, you start with two cards and LEAN them against each other. A side card is Leaned against the top card. Next, another card is placed by Leaning it against the top card on the other side. Then the Front card, creating a square, is Leaned against the two side card corners.
Builders aren’t quite done with the Kardtects Square though. It needs a roof, and the method to build the roof is an important step. The correct method allows level upon level to be built on top of it.
The video demonstrates how the roof cards are placed on top at right angles of each other AND with an Overhang.
This Overhang is essential because it provides space for the next level to be built on and strengthens the base square.
An inner square is left in the center when following the Kardtects Square building method correctly. This can be covered with another card if wanted. Or it can left open and built around.
Here is another video demonstrating a larger structure being built by simply repeating the building of Kardtects Squares. Instead of building just one Kardtects Square, more to the side and on top are created to form an incredible card house.
Once the Kardtects Square method and knack of the LEAN is learned, there is no stopping Kardtects (card architects) from building more amazing structures each time they take Kardtects building cards out of the box! It is so exciting to build with them!
Imaginations are endless and Kardtects gives kids the power to build with them by using Kardtects building cards!
What will you build?
