The two different aspects, building and destroying, found in all Kardtects boxes, offers the perfect balance for anyone to have great fun. As the saying goes, ‘what goes up must come down’; and how wonderful it is Kardtects get to participate in both the building and the destroying of their creations.
From sharing the cards at recent events and locations, I have observed both facets. I have seen how the two work beautifully together.
With building, where time and space allow, Kardtects has demonstrated the constructing feature by asking, ‘Can you make a T? Can you lean another card against that T and so on? Then add a roof? And make a T on top of that? And new builders can.
People soon realize they too can build whatever they imagine with just a little practice of these actions. They give a satisfying ‘Tada’ moment for a Kardtect (card architect). The final structures created provide a real sense of accomplishment and are rewarding to not only the persons who build them, but also to those who get to share in them. Card Creations are such unique constructions! What type of card houses will you build? Castles? Trees? Pyramids? Great Wall of China? Anything is there for the building.
Then there is the Destroying. This always brings out lots of smiles and enthusiasm. The building phase is a more quiet inner achievement feeling (until completed, at which time it is excitedly shared). The Destroying phase, however, is an outwardly and all out competitiveness expression. I love the total opposite reactions Kardtects offers. Both display cheerful thrills differently.
I think the strong urge to demolish is partly because it is known that once the structure is destroyed, another can be created. The destroying merely provides the opportunity for something new to be constructed again. It is not an end or a negative in Kardtects. It’s the chance to have fun building (and destroying) once more! Like our motto says, ‘The Fun Never Stops!’
Last week I built a 12 foot tower at a local shopping mall. It stood there during the day as the people walked by and looked up. I saw it in many eyes the desire to knock it down. It is instinct. I sit there myself and want to throw Destroyer Disks at it, so I understand. That is why Kardtects developed the Destroyers and Disks. Something needs to knock it down eventually. And it is fun to do!
It was around 2 in the afternoon of this day a few kids walked by and I saw the determined ‘I so want to knock that down!’ look in their eyes. I admit, it made me a bit nervous. I informed them, quickly, that at 8 o’clock they would be able to knock it down with the Disks, if they were still around to do so. But not until then. To this their eyes got bright.
I wasn’t sure if they would be able to come back. But then a little after 7PM, those few kids from earlier brought back a few others. They were ready; circling and strategizing on how their disks would bring the card house down! Waiting until 8 was difficult, and when the hour came, with Disks in hand, the buildup of excitement was furiously released! They were surprised at the strength of the base and decided to just run through it, and roll around the fallen cards.
My husband and I, and those watching enjoyed the show. The kids enjoyed the challenge of knocking it down. And fantastic fun was given to all.
This weekend (Nov 22-23) Kardtects will be at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair. We will be building structures to destroy again. In place of Destroyer Disks used to demolish, coins will be thrown. All monies will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. So instead of throwing coins into a fountain for making a wish of your own, coins can be thrown at the Kardtects card houses for the wishes of others.
After the demolitions, rebuilding will be done for other rounds.
So Imagine, Build, Destroy……….and Give. Destroying by giving to Charity is such fun!
We are honored to be able to hold the event which offers both the thrills of building and destroying, and will let you know how it goes! (Update: $60.14 was donated to Make-A-Wish. It was an awesome time!)
Master the Fun,
Kardtects
